I continued the pending repair work in the new apartment. Last week’s focus was mostly electrical infrastructure which by the way is something I understand but find horrifying, compared to water infrastructure which I don’t understand and find boring.

I’ve finished 2/3 of Erich Fromm’s To Have or to Be? but recently I started to worry that I won’t finish this book in time to write a review for Indieweb Book Club. I hope I’ll finish it this week and at least wrap up the first draft of my review.

I also started reading American Trickster: The Hidden Lives of Carlos Castaneda by Ru Marshall. Even though I find the author’s language a bit too hostile for a biography, it seems like comprehensive research on the life of Carlos Castaneda and I’m really excited to see what I’ll discover in it.

The biggest highlight of this week might be the newly added dedicated host in my personal infrastructure. After reading Jeremy’s Personal Encyclopedias, I started fantasizing about having my own MediaWiki installation (although I have disagreements with Jeremy’s post, this is not the place for them). In a prime example of yak shaving, this led me to rent a dedicated host on Hetzner to install Kubernetes. Before you roll your eyes, you should know that I write open source software for Kubernetes for a living and this is mostly an excuse to dogfood my own code. For most of Friday, I deployed Kubernetes on a bunch of virtual machines and installed our PostgreSQL and MySQL operators on it. So far I have Miniflux, Linkding and Plik deployments. I had, naturally, a few challenges during the process but I want to write those up for ege.dev.

Yesterday I was on the road to my hometown for most of the day. I’m visiting my grandma for a week. I didn’t take time off from work but I hope to relax a bit here, chill and swim.
